For this week the cold snap is over with and it should start warming, Never have really had any faith in the groundhog day stuff. When you look at the calendar the official day of the first day of Spring is March 21st. But I guess it gives people something to hope for and look forward too. But yet  I have seen it snow in May.

Basting is done

So I can proudly say the king size quilt finally got basted this afternoon, it was fun experience , just not ready to another one anytime soon. The fun part will be the hand quilting all these big block stars. This will be something new in my quitling journey.
I am looking forward to it!!!!
Not done basting at this point but this is what it looks like instead of pictures of the blocks here and there. And as you can see I had my ereader going with a movie playing to help pass the time.
Now begins the fun part!!!

Big Star Block Quilt

So almost a year later from my last post I post yet again, I think this is one thing I will have to change.
So over a year ago I was asked by my ex boss, if I could take a look at her quilt and see if I could fix it.

Once I saw it I knew it was beyond repair. So I told her that she shouldn't have washed it so many times and if it needs to be washed that bad then put it on the gentle cycle and hopefully with no agitators either.
So I took the quilt home that day when I was done work and started ripping out what blocks could be saved. Her mother-in-law had made this quilt for her and her son.

So the one plan I had for it was this block
http://www.quilterscache.com/L/LogCabinPinwheelBlock.html

I thought since the originals were a log cabin, so I started making one block and that wasn't going well as  I wanted it too or it wasn't really into that block after all.
So I just put it done for a bit and did something else, when I could between work and tending to the grandson.
So by the end of last year and start of this year I was in swap in one of the many groups I have joined on Facebook. So what we end up swapping was this block and it was quick and easy and that is when I realized that I would use these blocks to make the quilt top for the ex boss.

I now can say the quilt top is done and is ready to be basted come tomorrow and then after that it will be hand quilting which will be a new experience for me. So in between doing that and trying to get some knitting and crocheting done too for selling and Christmas gifts, its going to be a busy winter.

So I can't wait to get started on this tomorrow, all I know is that the end is in sight now!!!!

Two PHD done

Here is another smaller table runner or a dresser scarf that I started last year just before the May long weekend. I call it Pinwheel Blue

So for the next few nights I will be working on baby blanket that I started last summer, just have to finish hand sewing the binding on and then its ready to be shipped out.
Then hopefully next week I can get another baby quilt on frame and try it out.
This is the year to get things done.
Let me know what you will get done!!!

Day 2 of 30 days of drawing

Since I didn't do Nanowri this year, and I saw the link on a friend's page about drawing for 30 days.

I will be the first to admit that I am not much for drawing, I do more doodling and drawing of some trees.

But with the net now, you can find online on how to draw anything now, whether you need visual or just the instructions.

So I thought why not?

If I can do it, then so can you!!!!

So just click on the banner on the right and join in and let me know how you do.

Back into the groove!!!

Well basically after a month and bit I finally got back into the groove and get some of these PHD's out the door.
Today will be to get a fridge magnet finished up and in the mail to AR, in the states.
Then back to the next purse I am working on and then later practice some stipling for the quilt that I would love to get finished before Christmas.

And then later tonight it will be working on chemo cap that I will find a home for.

All of this between the regular housework, workout, and tending to my grandson.

Life is good!!!!!!!

Spring maybe

Well we got a bit of snow today, not much, compared to last week when we 5inches in one day and then got some what cold again. Then after lunch it started to warm up and saw some of the pavement on the road and in the driveway.
So while it was doing that I was cleaning off my ironing board, and got the projects lined up that I have left laying there for so many months. So when I felt it was time to uveil the sewing machine, it was a good moment..

So sewing away and my grandson is underneath the table and he hears the sewing machine doing its thing and he comes out from under. I finished putting this sashing on this one block and getting ready to sew another block to the sashing, to realize that the second block isn't big enough to match the first one.
So one and rip out one was in my future without me knowing it.

But it's good to get back to sewing, quilting after so many months of doing other things.

Have a blessed day!!!!
